The time limit is 30 days beginning with the first day after the goods were delivered and ownership passed (s.22(3)), not 30 days from purchase. Goods that do not conform within six months of delivery are taken not to have conformed on the day they were delivered, unless the trader establishes otherwise (s.19(14)). This letter formally requests the refund or replacement.
Within the 30 day window: the short-term right to reject and a refund, which must be paid within 14 days of the trader agreeing you are entitled to it, by the same means you paid and with no fee (s.20(15) to (17)). After that window: repair or replacement (s.23), then a price reduction or the final right to reject (s.24).
